Millions of people around the world are subjected to meticulous violence because of their gender. Also in this we discuss upon the various types of cyber crimes that can be inflicted upon woman and children how they adversely affect her and the article contends the question is how the diverse concerns of the government match up with the specialized security needs of their female citizens who are the most vulnerable one.
The current tendency of cyber crime is largely dominated by the crime against the individual. Especially females are more vulnerable to cyber-attacks. Crime against women and Children is on a high in all fields and being a victim of cyber crime could be the most traumatic experience for a woman and children. Many minor girls and other female victims committed suicide after their private photos and videos were leaked on the internet.
Cyber crime is unlawful and punishable activity that either uses a computer network or a networked device. Most of the cyber crime is committed by cyber criminals or hackers who want to make money. Cyber crime aims to damage computers or networks for reasons other than benefit.
Especially in India where the law does not even properly recognize cyber crimes. The crimes against women in India are increasing at a high rate because there is no fear amongst the citizens regarding the punishment rewarded to the culprits. Verbal abuse in electronic form which is the repetition of insults to a woman and Children. Online trolling and online hate speech against her or Twitter troll posts with obscene and sexually explicit comments etc. use against women. In misbehaving the woman and Children the person behind the screen hurts her as much as if she hit her because the woman and Children in this case loses self-esteem. Verbal abuse can lead to a range of behavioral or emotional and physical problems.
Information Technology Act 2000 (IT Act 2000) is the main law connected with cyber security in India.
Conclusion-
This is the high time to initiate and being vocal against cyber crime and being more protective on this crime and being aware against this crime as globally this crime is increasing and has become the most sustainable and devastating crime against state or individual or mass and last but not the least mental and socio-cultural and economic stability when the victims are the women and children and also there is an urgent need of bringing awareness and consciousness among women to be careful while using internet facilities and also proper guidance if somehow they face cyber crime then they can raise their voice against it.
Several remedies to counter the ever-increasing cybercrime against women in India. I would like to mention that in Vedic ages the women were provided protection within the house by her parents through inculcating Vedic culture and tradition and it was a duty of government to look after their safety outside the home by maintaining law and order. There is also an alarming requirement for knowledge and technical enhancement for the prevention of woman harassment in India.
Women should always take some measures for online safety. Always keep an irrelevant eye fake Sms or call. Never respond to any spam emails or fraud messages which they get in the name of the company. Keep an eye on the privacy of the website and read what kind of information they are asking.
If need to file a Cyber crime complaint online in India than visit National Crime Reporting Portal of India.
“To facilitate the reporting of incidents related to various forms of cyber crimes, particularly those targeting women and children, the government has established the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (www.cybercrime.gov.in).”
“After filing a cyber crime complaint, you can proceed to register a cyber crime First Information Report (FIR) at the nearest local police station to report the incident. This action is mandated by Section 154 of the CrPC, which requires every police officer to record the information or complaint of an offense, regardless of the jurisdiction in which the crime occurred.
Firstly, the police must initiate an investigation by registering an FIR (First Information Report) for the cyber crime incident. Subsequently, an investigation report will be compiled based on the findings. Finally, a charge sheet will be submitted to the court.”
